LYSISTRATA! Over 20 Years Ago!

As an actor, I am dramatic. Therefore, I am VERY fond of the classics! Here's a photo of me in the Greek Classic "Lysistrata" more than 20 years ago. It appeared in all the local NYC papers. I am so happy that my return to the stage will be in Rome Neal's award winning adaptation of the Shakespeare classic "Julius Caesar" set in Africa!

"A WOUND IN TIME" AVAILABLE FOR OUTREACH AND RETURNING TO THE STAGE

"A Wound In Time" was written for the love of a good drama, and more importantly, to address certain social issues that plague us. The issues of racism, classism, homophobia, intra-racism, colorism, interracial dating, the stigma and trap of being an ex-convict, psychological issues like self-esteem, depression, and post traumatic stress disorder, are reflected in the play. The characters are either victims, and/or guilty of perpetuating the problems that lead to conflict. When it comes from outside it is threatening. But when it comes from within it is more dangerous, as these behaviors are usually either accepted and ingrained in the culture, OR swept under the rug, never to be acknowledged or examined.

This is why I am making a condensed version of the play for my ensemble to perform at colleges and community organizations for cultural diversity appreciation. It is indeed a raw, and edgy drama, with adult content. However, it is entertaining; being educational without preaching. For more information please contact me at steph@wetprods.com. MY "HOMEMADE HEADSHOT" DUE TO SUDDEN RETURN TO THE STAGE

During the run of my play at Nuyorican Poets Cafe auditions were being held for Shakespeare Julius Caesar set in Africa. Since I would be in the theatre setting up for my show I decided to audition for the hell of it, as I do so love the classics. Well, I unexpectedly got the role of the soothsayer. My last headshots were taken in the 1980's and there was no time to see a photographer soooo I took a recent candid shot and cropped and played with it... Rome Neal's adaptation opens at Nuyorican on Dec. 2nd.
