DIVINA: FROM ROMA TO THE BRONX WITH LOVE

So I have a working title for my proposed documentary about the great Anna Magnani.  I wrote the treatment and imagine it being filmed in Rome, her birthplace, with an Italian and myself as host/interviewers.  We want to know more about Anna Magnani the WOMAN; her likes and dislikes, favorite places, hobbies, etc.  This would be a cultural collaboration between the U.S. and Italy.

In the treatment the opening shot will have a montage of stills and clips of The Bronx during the 50's and 60's with a the face of Anna Magnani superimposed, and classical Italian music in the background.  There will also be a voiceover of myself: "I was so lucky to have grown up during the golden era of film and television in the 1950’s and 60’s... So many wonderful films and amazing actors. There were so many that influenced me in one way or another and were such a joy to watch. But there was only one who spoke to me on a deeper, more personal level... And that was the great Anna Magnani. She let a sensitive and very emotional little girl know that it was okay to be passionate, and that there was a way to express that passion in a positive and safe way..." Then we cut to a shot of myself being interviewed on camera continuing with my statement to set up upcoming shots as we begin to learn about the "Divina".
